Overview
An exciting trend in today's orchestral world is the development of satellite ensembles created to explore the chamber music repertoire. Among the finest examples, the Scharoun Ensemble Berlin was founded by members of the Berlin Philharmonic and named after the architect of the orchestra's acoustically superb concert hall. In honoring the legacy of Hans Scharoun, the musicians affirm their commitment to both the heritage of the past and the challenges of the present. For this Cal Performances debut, the ensemble performs one of its signature pieces, Schubert's magnificent Octet in F Major.
Program: Keeril Makan: Tender Illusions · Mozart: Clarinet Quintet in A Major · Schubert: Octet
