Overview
With his effortless command of the stage, Bryn Terfel ranks as one of today's most electrifying vocalists. Terfel is currently the talk of the town for his role in one of the most high profile events of the season, Robert Legpage's production of Wagner's "Ring" cycle for the Met Opera, singing his first Wotan at the Met in Das Rheingold. However Cal Performances audience agree: the breadth of his artistry is particularly impressive when heard in the revealing setting of a vocal recital. "Vocally prodigious and interpretatively outstanding...brilliantly effective" (The Guardian, London).
Program: Songs by Robert Schumann: Belsatzar, Op. 57 · Liederkreis (Eichendorff), Op. 39 · Romanzen und Balladen, Op. 49 (Heinrich Heine) · Mein Wagen rollet langusam, Op. 142, No. 4 · Gerald Finzi: Let Us Garlands Bring(Shakespeare), Op. 18 · Francis Poulenc: Chansons Gaillardes
