Overview
For this third U.S. tour, the acclaimed Çudamani (pronounced SOOD-a-mani) ensemble presents Bamboo to Bronze, featuring 24 of Bali's finest dancers and musicians in an exhilarating synthesis of movement, music, and spectacle. This new full length work transports audiences to Bali, revealing how treasured traditions and vibrant creative innovations exist side by side in this increasingly complex and sophisticated culture. From the intimate and poetic sounds of a small village temple to the courts of Balinese kings as heard in the virtuosic, dynamic, and technically dazzling sound of the brilliant seven-toned Gamelan Semarandana, Bamboo to Bronze offers audiences an opportunity to witness the splendor and creative life force of this treasured art form.
