For almost two
millennia, skillful practitioners of the dramatic folk arts have
been perfecting the astounding blend of comedy, dance, magic, and
martial prowess that is the specialty of Taiwan's foremost acrobatic
troupe. The celebrated troupe returns after its 1998 Cal Performances
appearance and everything in the room is up for grabs as these master
clowns and jugglers tumble and roll their way across the stage:
chairs, tables, ladders, bicycles, bowls, plates, candlesticks,
bottles, flaming torches, and cutlery all dance and whiz through
the air with impeccable timing and seemingly miraculous grace. Hey,
kids: Do not try this at
home!
