Renowned for its
strong commitment to contemporary music, the Orchestre National de
Lyon has played host to some of the greatest composers of the 20th
century (many of whom have conducted the orchestra in their music)
as well as given premieres of the works of such mavericks as Elliott
Carter, Steve Reich, and Pierre Boulez. Under the direction of the
orchestra's music director, acclaimed American-born conductor David
Robertson, the chamber orchestra ensemble of Orchestre National de
Lyon performs a diverse program of works that includes pieces by some
of the 20th century's leading musical visionaries.
Program: Stravinsky/Symphonies
of Wind Instruments; Boulez/Originel; Wagner/Siegfried
Idyll; Schöenberg/Chamber Symphony No. 1
