"One of the best early music groups in the world," according to London's Evening Standard, the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra's unique combination of pep and perfection is the key to its popularity with audiences and critics alike. The Orchestra will be joined by extraordinary German bass-baritone Thomas Quasthoff, recognized as "one of the most exciting artists to emerge in the musical world in years" (San Francisco Chronicle). Quasthoff has astounded audiences and critics alike in his performances with major symphony orchestras and in recital throughout Europe and the U.S., including his previous Bay Area recital debut at Cal Performances, named one of 2000's 10 best classical events by the San Francisco Chronicle.

Program: Telemann/Overture in D major, TWV : 55 : D 15; Cantata TWV 1:192 "Das Manna deiner Speise"; J.S. Bach/Cantata BWV 82, "Ich habe Genug"; Overture No. 4 in D major (Early version without trumpets), BWV 1069
