Inspired by a Classical Action benefit at BAM in 1998, MacArthur Genius Award-winner Bill T. Jones and Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center artistic director David Shifrin joined together in a unique collaboration to equally showcase the distinctive joys of chamber music and modern dance. The result are these programs featuring three Bay Area premieres, a trio of works which display Jones' amazing emotional choreographic range — from playful and sexy to athletic and mysterious — as well as a diverse selection of classic chamber works, performed by the acclaimed Orion String Quartet, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center's quartet-in-residence, and additional Society members.

Program A (Oct 18): Jones/Verbum, set to Beethoven's Quartet for Strings in F major, Op. 135 (Bay Area premiere); World II (18 Movements to Kurtág), set to György Kurtág's String Quartet, Op. 1, Hommage à Mihály András, Op. 13, 12 Microludes for String Quartet (Bay Area premiere); Solo danced improvisation, set to excerpts of Ravel's Quartet for Strings in F major; Black Suzanne, set to Shostakovich's Prelude and Scherzo for String Octet, Op. 11 (Bay Area premiere)

Program B (Oct 19): Jones/Verbum; World II (18 Movements to Kurtág); D-man in the Waters, set to Mendelssohn's Octet for Strings in E-flat major, Op.20 .
