This sensational
Milanese ensemble has skyrocketed to fame by taking an exuberant,
contemporary approach to some of the best-known Baroque compositions.
First introduced to American audiences at the 1996 Berkeley Festival,
Il Giardino performed to tremendous critical acclaim at Cal Performances
in 2001 with superstar soprano Cecilia Bartoli, with whom they recorded
their Grammy Award-winning Vivaldi Album. Combining virtuosic
playing with a daring willingness to improvise, they have been called
the most dynamic and creative period-instrument group on today's scene
"the kind of ensemble that makes listeners eager to follow
its adventures through the repertory," says The New York Times.
