Salvatore Licitra recently captured the collective imagination of the entire opera world when he stepped in at the last minute to replace Luciano Pavarotti in what was scheduled to be the famous tenor's farewell performance at the Metropolitan Opera, a triumphant performance described by The New York Times as "the starry anointing of a potential successor." The electrifying young Italian tenor makes his American concert debut at Cal Performances with full symphony orchestra and a program of favorite arias from the operas of Verdi and Puccini.
