The emotional complexity of Euripides' Medea has haunted Western theater for nearly 2,500 years, presenting one of the strongest female characters ever to appear on stage. Leading opera and theater director Deborah Warner and one of Ireland's finest actresses, Fiona Shaw, team up to bring Euripides' gripping tragedy into sharp contemporary focus, an intense collaboration which earned the pair London's coveted Evening Standard awards. This timeless tale of a scorned woman's horrifying revenge "is full of brilliantly telling images, [and] gives you a shattering sense of the psychology behind the heroine," raved The Independent (London).
