They're back — and still flying high! A leading force in Quebec's thriving "Cirque Nouveau" movement, the 17-member troupe of skilled acrobats and athletic dancers returns to Zellerbach Hall following their sensational Bay Area debut last season. Like its Canadian cousin in choreographed spectacle, Cirque du Soleil, Cirque Éloize (pronounced "el-was,") provokes astonishment with its unique blend of acrobatics, aerialists, and infectious music. The troupe's newest creation, Nomade, is inspired by the wandering spirit and traditional folic of the Gypsy and is laced with the theatricality, originality and heart that have become the troupe's calling cards. "Cirque Éloize communihe universal language of fun," says The New York Times.
