Hall Price: $22/$30/$42 Subscription Series: Choose-Your-Own Subscription Jesús Alemañy's 15-piece band, comprised of an all-star roster of Cuban musicians, has played a major role in reviving the island's sizzling sounds and fiery rhythms. The release of their self-titled debut album in 1997 thrust Cuban music into the American musical mainstream, and their first American tour solidified their reputation as the greatest Cuban dance orchestra to visit the U.S. since the genre's heyday in the 1950s. ¡Cubanismo! performs a tight and dynamic combination of elegant son — Cuban roots music dating back to the early 20th century — and freewheeling jazz, arranged in Havana's descarga (jam session) tradition. Danceable from start to finish, every ¡Cubanismo! concert is a veritable feast of rhythms and a spirited journey to the heart of Latin music — paying homage to the past while leading Cuban music into the future.
