Before 1850 Series
The Academy of Ancient Music was one of the very first ensembles to specialize
in period instrument performance, and since 1973, has brought its musical eloquence
to bear on compositions from the Baroque, Classical, and early Romantic eras in
resplendent performances and award-winning recordings, including the first ever
complete recording of Mozart's symphonies on period instruments. Today considered
one the world's preeminent interpreters of early music, the ensemble is led on
its North American tour by harpsichord virtuoso Richard Egarr, whose talent was
honed while studying in Amsterdam with Gustav Leonhardt. In great demand as a
soloist, chamber musician, and conductor, Egarr leads the ensemble in an all-Bach
program of harpsichord concertos and orchestral works, including the Brandenburg
Concerto No. 5. Program:
J.S. Bach/ Suite No.2 in B minor BWV 1067; Concerto in D minor for harpsichord
BWV 1052; Concerto in A major for harpsichord BWV 1055; Brandenburg Concerto No.5
in D major BWV 1050 Patron Information:
