Founded by the German conductor and violinist Reinhard Goebel and fellow students
from the Cologne Conservatory, Musica Antiqua Köln has for 30 years been
at the forefront of the early-music movement, playing to great acclaim at virtually
every major music center and festival where 17th- and 18th-century instrumentation
is performed. Goebel's immense knowledge of early music is reflected in the ensemble's
award-winning recordings, including their recent Bachiana album of concertos
written by sons of Johann Sebastian Bach.
