"A singer of rare and prodigious gifts" (Contra Costa Times) tenor Salvatore Licitra returns in recital with full symphony orchestra following his critically acclaimed American concert debut at Cal Performances last season. Emerging as the most promising Italian tenor of his generation — the latest in a tradition that includes such legends as Caruso, Gigli, di Stefano, Bergonzi, and Pavarotti — Licitra became the toast of the opera world in 2002 for his triumphant performance at the Metropolitan Opera in replacement of the ailing Luciano Pavarotti. Now inundated with offers to appear at the world's most prestigious opera houses, he recently released a debut album of arias by Puccini and Verdi that won stellar reviews from aficionados and displayed his rich and dark-hued muscular tone to perfection. Don't miss this opportunity to discover the voice that has the opera world talking.
