Named after Antonie Brentano, thought by many to be Beethoven's mysterious "Immortal Beloved," this ensemble of extraordinarily gifted musicians quickly rose to prominence following its inception in 1992, receiving within a year's time three impressive honors: the first Cleveland Quartet Award, the Naumburg Chamber Music Award, and the tenth annual Martin E. Segal Award. Celebrated for its exceptional musical intelligence, the Quartet has lived up to its initial promise with more than a decade of brilliant chamber performances that have been recognized with such honors as the Royal Philharmonic Society Music Award for the most outstanding debut in 1997, and selection as quartet-in-residence at London's renowned Wigmore Hall for the 2000/01 season.
