Tuscan Sun Festival

Mon, Apr 25, 2005, 8 pm

Venue: Zellerbach Hall

Price: $22, $32, $42

Subscription Series: Choose-Your-Own, Winter Music Mini-Series

Celebrate the art of Italian life and culture with this special concert originally created at the Tuscan Sun Festival in Cortona, Italy, the home of Frances Mayes—author of the best-selling book (and now major motion picture) Under the Tuscan Sun. Join conductor and acclaimed violinist Dmitri Sitkovetsky, the world-renowned New European Strings (NES) Chamber Orchestra, and cellist and Festival artistic director Nina Kotova in a program that will include Kotova's Tuscan Sun Suite, which premiered in Cortona in 2003 with a narration by Frances Mayes. This program will also feature a special video presentation from the Festival, including rare footage from Bramasole, Frances Mayes' now-legendary home, and the gorgeous photography of Stephen Rothfeld, her official photographer.
