Mark Morris is "arguably the most successful and influential choreographer alive...and indisputably the most musical," said The New York Times of Mark Morris Dance Group's historic engagement at Tanglewood in 2004. In the first of two programs performed to live music, the ensemble returns to Cal Performances with Morris' beautifully geometric Mosaic and United, set to Henry Cowell string quartets, and the West Coast premiere of Violet Cavern, set to music commissioned and performed by breakout modern jazz trio The Bad Plus.
