Under the inspired leadership of conductor Achim Fiedler, Switzerland's celebrated chamber ensemble enjoys overwhelming popularity in Europe's major music centers. Dedicated for almost 40 years to enriching the dialogue between historic and contemporary music through eclectic and adventurous programming, the ensemble's extensive repertoire showcases Baroque masterworks played according to the most recent knowledge of historical performance practices as well as new compositions commissioned from such renowned contemporary composers as Frank Martin, Bohuslaz Martinu, and Krzysztof Penderecki. The ensemble has premiered more than 90 new works since its founding in 1956 and has collaborated with such revered soloists as Pablo Casals, Anne Sophie Mutter, Gidon Kremer, and Christian Zehetmair.
