Yefim Bronfman, piano

Sat, Mar 26, 2005, 8 pm

Venue: Zellerbach Hall

Price: $34/$46/$62

Subscription Series: Choose-Your-Own, Winter Music Mini-Series

Two of classical music's great pianists join forces for a concert celebrating musical companionship and expressiveness at its finest. Emanuel Ax, long considered one of the leading pianists of his generation, is renowned not only for his brilliant technique, but also for his poetic temperament and lifelong focus on bringing a wide repertoire of great music to life. Ax returns to Cal Performances in recital along with fellow Grammy Award-winning pianist Yefim Bronfman, an Avery Fisher Prize winner whose captivating solo recitals, prestigious orchestral engagements, and rapidly growing catalog of recordings draw consistent praise. "A marvel of digital dexterity, warmly romantic sentiment, and jaw-dropping bravura," said the Chicago Tribune of the two piano virtuosos' recording in 2002 of Rachmaninoff's rarely recorded piano pieces for 4 hands.
