At age five, Viennese piano prodigy Rudolf Buchbinder became the youngest student ever admitted to Vienna's prestigious Musik Hochschule, and his career has been nothing short of spectacular ever since. A regular guest of the world's great orchestras, including the Berlin, London, and New York philharmonic orchestras and the Vienna Philharmonic and Symphony, Buchbinder is renowned for the exceptional sensitivity of his playing and the enormous breadth of his repertoire. A powerful interpreter of late Classical and early Romantic work, in 2003, he thrilled audiences with an unprecedented performance of all five Beethoven concertos with the Vienna Symphony in a single day. He is also the recipient of Europe's Grand Prix du Disque for his 18-disc recording of Haydn's complete works for piano.
Program:
Beethoven/Sonata in C major, Op. 2, No. 3; Sonata No. 8 in C minor, Pathétique; Schumann; Symphonische Etuden, Op. 13
