The youngest winner ever of the Naumburg International Violin Competition, this Avery Fisher Prize recipient is a daring musician open to the full possibilities of musical inspiration, and "one of the few classical artists who must be experienced in person," says the Washington Post. Hailed for her highly individual, passionate, and powerful sound, she has performed with many of the world's greatest orchestras and appeared at the White House in a command performance for the Arts & Humanities Awards. Her impressive discography ranges from classics to crossover recordings, including her 2002 Latin Grammy Award-winning collaboration with Brazilian guitarists Sérgio and Odair Assad. A natural communicator with a energetic presence, Salerno-Sonnenberg has found success in front of the camera as well, and was featured in the 2000 Academy Award-nominated documentary on her life, Speaking in Strings, which premiered at the Sundance Festival.
