A creative genius, Cuban-born jazz master Paquito d'Rivera is widely considered the number one Latin American saxophonist of our time. He co-founded the innovative 1970s group Irakere, playing an explosive mixture of jazz, rock, classical, and traditional Cuban music, and has won four Grammy Awards since emigrating to the U.S. in 1980. He is joined for this program by Brazilian brothers Sérgio and Odair Assad, recognized worldwide as one of the greatest guitar duos in memory. "Listening to the Assad brothers is a bit like hearing four hands playing one large guitar. [Their] interaction is so precise, so perfectly synchronized, that it reaches far beyond musical partnership into a kind of creative symbiosis," says the Los Angeles Times. Both d'Rivera and the Assads performed on Yo-Yo Ma's best-selling album Obrigado Brazil and their tours together since the album's release display the same exuberant spirit and scorching technique that helped make the Grammy Award-winning recording the fastest-selling of Ma's career.
