Magnus Lindberg (b. 1958) is among Europe's most talented young composers, particularly admired for the energy, color, and a thrilling density of his recent music, which defi nes a new classical modernism. He is a favorite composer of conductors including Salonen, Rattle, and Dohnányi, and his music is widely recorded on Deutsche Grammophon, Sony, Finlandia, and other labels. Since its inception in 2001, International Contemporary Ensemblea collective of accomplished young musicians based in Chicago and New Yorkhas collaborated with a number of internationally acclaimed composers in concerts praised for their originality and ambition.
