Jerusalem Quartet

Venue: Hertz Hall

Subscription Series: Choose-Your-Own, Winter/Spring Mini Series

Having met as students at Jerusalem High School in Israel, the young members of the Jerusalem Quartet began their performance careers in 1993 and today display a liveliness and spontaneity coupled with sensitivity and musical understanding only rarely encountered in a string ensemble. Winners of first prizes at the Jerusalem Academy Chamber Music Competition and the Franz Schubert Competition in Austria, the musicians' present widely praised concerts—at home and abroad—that signal the arrival of a string quartet of rare distinction. "Musical electricity may be unfathomable, but one thing is for sure—they have it" (The Strad).

Program: Beethoven/Quartet in B-flat major, Op. 18, No. 6, La Malinconia; Mendelssohn/Quartet in E-flat major, op. 12; Shostakovich/Quartet No. 8 in C minor, Op. 110
