Takács Quartet
& Garrick Ohlsson, piano

Sun, Oct 9, '05, 3 pm

Venue: Zellerbach Hall B

Price: $30/$40/$52

Thrilling changes are in the works as this Cal Performances favorite welcomes a new member to its ranks—the Bay Area's beloved Geraldine Walther (currently principal violist of the San Francisco Symphony). Lauded worldwide for "artistry of the highest caliber" (The Washington Post), the esteemed ensemble explores its repertoire with intellectual curiosity and passion, creating performances that are probing, revealing, and constantly engaging. Pianist Garrick Ohlsson—a winner of the Chopin International Piano Competition and Avery Fisher Prize—joins the group in a performance of Brahms' massively ambitious Piano Quintet in F Minor.

Program: Mozart/String Quartet in C Major, K. 465; Debussy/Quartet; Brahms/Piano Quintet in F Minor, Op. 34
