He may only be in his mid 20s, but pianist Jonathan Biss has already captured the attention of the music world. Representing the third generation in a family of musicianshis grandmother, Raya Garbousova, was one of the first well-known female cellists (Samuel Barber composed his Cello Concerto for her)Biss has already performed with many of the major American orchestras. He is equally acclaimed for his chamber music collaborations with artists including Isaac Stern, András Schiff, and Midori. "It's unavoidable that the knock of stardom will be heard at his door" (The Washington Post). Biss makes his Bay Area debut at Cal Performances.
