recital

Rudolf Buchbinder, piano

Sun, Sept 18, '05, 3 pm

Sun, Sept 25, '05, 3 pm

Venue: Hertz Hall

Price: $42

Possessing the "genuine Beethovenian flair" (Los Angeles Times) seen only in the most exceptional artists, Rudolf Buchbinder continues his traversal of the composer's complete piano sonatas—to be performed in their entirety at Cal Performances over the coming seasons. Buchbinder is firmly established as one of the most important pianists on the international scene, and his Berkeley recital in 2004 was a resounding triumph. With more than 100 recordings to his name, his standing-room-only concerts with the world's finest ensembles and conductors attest to the presence of an artist of rare maturity and depth.

Program A (September 18): Beethoven/Sonata in F Minor, Op. 2, No. 1; Sonata in E-flat Major, Op. 27, No. 1; Sonata in D Major, Op. 10, No. 3; Sonata in F Minor, Op. 57, Appassionata
