Among the emerging new generation of gifted instrumentalists, violinist Julia Fischer was already "one to watch" when she made her Bay Area recital debut at Cal Performances in 2000. Still in her early 20s, she is championed by artists the caliber of Christoph Eschenbach and Lorin Maazel. A past winner of the Yehudi Menuhin Violin Competition, she has appeared with ensembles such as the London and New York Philharmonics, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony, and the Philadelphia Orchestra, and under conductors including Michael Tilson Thomas, Zubin Mehta, and Yuri Temirkanov. "Here is a musician with an exceptionally bright future ahead of her" (The Daily Telegraph, London).
Program:
Schubert/Sonata in A Major; Grieg/Sonata in C Minor; Bach/Sonata for Violin Solo No. 3 in C Major BWV 1005; Saint-Saens/Sonata No. 1
