Boccatango

Venue: Zellerbach Hall A

Subscription Series: Choose-Your-Own, Winter/Spring Mini Series

Argentinean superstar (and American Ballet Theatre principal) Julio Bocca and his Ballet Argentino join forces with guest vocalists and the musicians of Octango for a red-hot performance of Boccatango, an intense and playful revue-style take on Argentina's pride and joy, the tango. Choreographed by Ana Maria Stekelman, Boccatango removes tango from its usual steamy ballroom setting, transforming it into a thrilling balleticized version (with nods toward modern and Broadway-style dance) of the classic art form. It's sexy and serious, at once smooth and sharp, and in the spotlight stands Bocca himself, featured in tour-de- force solos sure to set the house ablaze!
