Tania Libertad

Thu, Nov 17, '05, 8 pm

Venue: Zellerbach Hall B

Price: $20/$26/$32

Originally from Peru, where she absorbed the music of the descendants of African slaves, Tania Libertad is one of the most significant Latin American artists performing today. The chanteuse has recorded more than 30 albums, solidifying her reputation in world music circles. Libertad's soulful and buoyant style transcends tastes and borders, and her stunning vocal technique moves effortlessly from the passionate boleros and infectious rancheros of her current home, Mexico, to the spirited Afro-Peruvian songs of her youth. "A remarkably clear, powerful, and passionate voice" (The Guardian, London).
