A favorite of our World Stage audiences, the Grammy-nominated quartet of Iran's finest musical virtuosos returns to once again showcase the rich heritage of Persian classical music and ancient Sufi and contemporary poetry. The ensemble features superstar vocalist Mohammad Reza Shajarian, a national treasure in his native Iran; kamancheh (spiked fiddle) virtuoso Kayhan Kalhor; tar (plucked lute) and setar (Persian sitar) master Hossein Alizadeh; and Shajarian's son, Homayoun, on the tombak (hand drum).
