The Tallis Scholars

Fri, Dec 1, 8 pm

Venue: First Congregational Church

Price: $46

Wheelchair Accessible What does this symbol mean?

Since founding the group in 1973, director Peter Phillips has worked with the Tallis Scholars to create—through impeccable tuning and blend—a clarity of expression that best serves the vast Renaissance repertoire. It is the resulting sound, in which every detail of the musical lines can be heard, for which the Scholars have become renowned. Today, the artists have established themselves as the finest exponents of Renaissance vocal polyphony through pioneering scholarship, world-class recordings, and dazzling concert performances. "In everything, the seamless blending of voices, ethereal purity of tone, and exactness of diction and intonation made the old seem wondrously new" (The Chicago Tribune).

Program: Works by Tallis, Tye, de Monte, Palestrina, and Taverner
