One of today's most gifted violinists, Maxim Vengerov gave his first recital in Siberia at the age of five and has since moved from one astounding success to another. In September 2002, he was named Gramophone's Artist of the Year, and in 2004 he won both the Edisson and Grammy awards. This concert marks his long-awaited return to Cal Performances following his memorable Bay Area recital debut in 1993. "A musical colossus, international superstar, and heart-throb, delivering a performance of such unbridled passion and energy that it provoked one of the world's most stolid audiences to rise as one from their seats, pounding the floor and yelling for more" The Times (London).
