Who doesn't fall in love when Itzhak Perlman takes up his violin? A superstar by any standard and a rarity in classical music, he has commanded the public imagination as few virtuosos ever have, bringing joy to millions with his glorious playing. Perlman's tone has been described as aristocratic, though his playing is anything but. From the most experienced afficionado to the youngest initiate whose love of music Perlman enthusiastically encourages, it is impossible to remain untouched by the irrepressible artistry that he communicates.
