Winner of Spain's prestigious National Dance Prize and hailed as a leading exponent of the new flamenco scene, Eva Yerbabuena is famed for performances that are stripped to the bare essentials, balancing a desire to take the art form in exciting new directions while still honoring the rich flamenco tradition. Yerbabuena has scored triumphs with her collaborations with dance legend Pina Bausch and film director Mike Figgis, marking her as one of the most adventurous flamenco figures before the public today. Her return to Cal Performances, following her rapturously received appearances in 2004, promises another demonstration of Yerbabuena's unique style. "This young woman is touched by greatness" (The Times, London).
