Portugeuse chanteuse Lura breathes new life into the Cape Verdean music first made famous by Cesaria Evora. Bringing a street-wise, urban sensuality to the island's unique musical tradition, she mixes the familiar morna style with the littleknown rhythms of funana and batuque, the music of women from the remote interior of Cape Verde. Following the release of her international debut album Di Korpu ku Alma (Of Body and Soul), she has been nominated for and received several awards, including Best Newcomer at the BBC Radio 3 Awards.
