Takács Quartet
with Joyce Yang, piano

0

The ongoing love affair between Cal Performances audiences and the Takács Quartet continues with two remarkable programs of chamber music, this one featuring the thrilling young pianist Joyce Yang (medalist at the 2005 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition). Having performed before the public for more than 30 years, the Takács is justly revered for exploring its repertoire with both intellectual curiosity and passion, in performances that are probing, revealing, and constantly engaging. "The Takács Quartet stands at the peak of its powers" (The Boston Globe).

Program: Haydn/Quartet in C Major, Op. 74, No. 1; Bartók/Quartet No. 5; Schumann/Piano Quintet in E-flat Major, Op. 44

This performance is made possible, in part, through the generosity of Earl and June Cheit.
