While still a relatively young ensemble (the group was founded in 1994), the esteemed Zehetmair Quartet has already made a major impression on the music world and is renowned for accomplished concerts covering a wide and adventurous repertoire. But then, that's exactly what one might expect from a group led by Salzburg-born violinist Thomas Zehetmair, one of the finest and most open-minded artists performing today. The musicians' Berkeley performance features Schumann's Quartet No. 1, their recording of which won the prestigious Gramophone Record of the Year award. "There's something miraculous about every concert...the music seems to spring fully formed from the collective consciousness of the four players" (The Guardian, London).
Program: Mozart/Quartet in G Major, K. 156; Hindemith/Quartet No. 4, Op. 22; Schumann/Quartet No. 1 in A Minor, Op. 41
