Dmitri Yefimov, piano
Queen of today's Russian mezzo-sopranos, Olga Borodina possesses every asset a vocalist could desire: a singular, superb voice; a pitch-perfect dramatic sense; impeccable technique and versatility; and natural musicality, which cannot be taught or lost. Her career has had two major advocatesValery Gergiev of the Kirov Opera and James Levine of the Metropolitan Operaboth of whom have championed her formidable talents. Winner the Rosa Ponselle and Barcelona competitions, she performs frequently at the Metropolitan Opera and will open the San Francisco Opera's 2007 season reprising her well-received 2001 performance in Saint-Saëns' Biblical epic, Samson et Dalila. "Borodina may have the most distinctively beautiful voice of any singer before the public today, dusky in color yet resplendent in sound" (The New York Times).
