In this special evening with two of National Public Radio's most popular personalities, Ira Glass returns to Cal Performances by popular demand, following his highly successful appearance in 2005. Host and producer of This American Life, Glass is "a journalist but also a storyteller who filters his interviews and impressions through a distinctive literary imagination, an eccentric intelligence, and a sympathetic heart" (The New York Times). Rakoff, a favorite contributor to Glass' program, frequently finds himself off in the far-flung hinterlands of American culture, notebook and microphone in hand. "Like a whore with a heart of gold," says Glass with a smile, "David says all the nasty things we want to hear and then reveals that, actually, it's all about love."
