Among today's hottest tenors, Rolando Villazón has won the admiration of seasoned opera lovers and new audiences alike with superb performances with the world's greatest opera companies. A frequent partner of Anna Netrebko's, he recorded Verdi's La Traviata with the star soprano, Thomas Hampson, and the Vienna Philharmonic, scoring rave reviews and a Grammy nomination in 2006. Villazón's debut appearance at Cal Performances last season was a resounding success, and the coming year promises great things for the ebullient Mexican singer, with three major releases in the works: 20th-century Spanish zarzuelas with Placido Domingo (Virgin Classics); his first solo album with Deutsche Grammophon; and a duet album with Netrebko celebrating the duo's phenomenal popularity.

Cal Performances regrets to announce the cancellation of Rolando Villazón's performance. Villazón, one of opera's most ardently admired young tenors, has decided to space his concert and operatic appearances further apart. Cal Performances hopes to present him as soon as a suitable alternate date can be found. No replacement date is announced at this time.
