with Sergio, Badi & Odair Assad
Brazilian-born brothers Sergio and Odair Assad have set the benchmark by creating a new standard of guitar innovation, ingenuity, and expression. With their exuberant spirit and scorching technique, they are "the best two-guitar team in existence, maybe in history" (The Washington Post). For their 2008 project, the Assads will curate a guitar symposium at the 92nd Street Y in New York and then tour their very special Brazilian Guitar Festival, featuring their sister Badi Assad (guitar/vocals), Romero Lubambo (acoustic jazz guitar), and Celso Machado (percussion/vocals). Together, these remarkable musical emissaries will lead an exhilarating musical journey from the pulsating city of Rio de Janeiro to the jungles of the Amazon and back again.
Parking Alerts: Parking may be a problem on campus for the Thu, Feb 7, performance due to a Cal Basketball game. Please see our Parking Alert section for more information.
