Takács Quartet
with Richard Stoltzman, clarinet

0

One of the world's premier string ensembles, the Takács Quartet has forged an enduring relationship with Cal Performances audiences, making its seasonal appearances must-see (and always sold-out) events on the music calendar. The Grammy-winning ensemble is renowned for its seamless blend of virtuosity and personality, in which four distinct musical voices combine for gripping, unified interpretations. The group's 2008/09 performances feature two acclaimed soloists — clarinetist Richard Stoltzman and San Francisco Symphony associate principal cellist Peter Wyrick (Mar 8). "Definitive' is a dangerous word to use about any performance...but this eloquent, expansive, and altogether thrilling account...tempts a listener to invoke every superlative in the book" (San Francisco Chronicle).
