Vadim Repin, violin
Nikolai Lugansky, piano

0

Back by overwhelming demand following an unforgettable 2006 Cal Performances concert, this gifted duo promises an afternoon of chamber music at its most passionate and sublime. Vadim Repin has been likened to the greatest violinists of all time—Menuhin, Stern, Oistrakh—with a technique and tone praised as "sensitive, elegant, subtle, also profound, generous, and tender" (Le Monde, Paris). Nikolai Lugansky won the International Bach Competition and Tchaikovsky Competition and has been hailed as the next in a line of great Russian pianists by the renowned pedagogue Tatiana Nikolaeva. Together, they form a remarkably nuanced and sensitive ensemble.

Program: Debussy/Sonata for Violin and Piano in G Minor; Prokofiev/Sonata no. 1 in F Minor, Op. 80; Beethoven/Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 9 in A Major, (Kreutzer)
