Suzanne Farrell was George Balanchine's most celebrated muse and remains a legendary figure in the ballet world today. Now, through the Kennedy Center's own ballet company, this great artist continues to share her intimate understanding of Balanchine's vanguard body of work. Two programs will showcase many special projects unique to the company and to Farrell's singular insight. This is dance at its most sublime, displaying "energy, scale, detailed nuance, and musical sophistication seldom found anywhere" (The New York Times).
Program A (Oct 24): The Balanchine Couple featuring pas de deux from nine Balanchine ballets, with onstage narration by artistic director Suzanne Farrell. Pas de deux include those from Apollo, La Sonnambula, La Valse, Agon, Meditation, Chaconne, and Stars and Stripes, "The Unanswered Question" from Ivesiana, and Pas de Mauresque from Don Quixote.
Program B (Oct 25): Balanchine/Divertimento No. 15 (Pas d' Action); Agon; "Contrapuntal Blues pas de deux" from Clarinade; "Scene d'amour" from Béjart's Romeo and Juliet
