Davitt Moroney, harpsichord
Bach: The Well-Tempered Clavier

0

One of today's top specialists in early music, and the music of Bach in particular, Davitt Moroney thrilled audiences at the 2008 Berkeley Festival & Exhibition with his discovery and perform- ance of Alessandro Striggio's enormous Missa sopra Ecco sì beato giorno. As a keyboard performer, he has recorded over 60 discs of music of the 16th through 18th centuries, winning several Gramophone Awards, France's Grand Prix du Disque de l'Académie Charles Cros, and other international prizes. Over a one-weekend marathon, Moroney will perform both books of J. S. Bach's The Well-Tempered Clavier, one of the finest monuments in the history of keyboard music. This is a unique opportunity to hear all 96 pieces in Bach's masterpiece, performed within 24 hours. Bring your scores!

Program (Oct 24): Book 1: Preludes and Fugues 1–24
Program (Oct 25): Book 2, Part I: Preludes and Fugues 1–12; Book 2: Part II: Preludes and Fugues 13–24 (Please note that there will be a 90-minute break between Part I and Part II of the Oct 25 event.)

Purchase Music Before 1850 Series B, which includes both of the above programs, and save 50% off the single-ticket price of the Oct 25 performance!
