The Tallis Scholars

0

Cherished worldwide for their "impeccable blend and balance...this is music where time stands still" (Financial Times, London), the Tallis Scholars are without rival in the glorious sound world of Renaissance polyphony. In their remarkable concerts, director Peter Phillips and his extraordinary singers create—through meticulous tuning and blend—a clarity of expression that best serves the vast Renaissance repertoire. It is the resulting beauty of sound—the aural equivalent of the mighty European cathedrals—for which the ensemble is justly renowned. Here in Berkeley, the Tallis Scholars have built a loyal following since their founding 35 years ago, and their annual appearances are high points on the musical calendar.

Program: Celebrate the holidays with Josquin's spectacular Missa De beata virgine. Also, works by Nesbett, Tallis, and Byrd
