Beyond our stages, Cal Performances offers over 100 educational programs at little or no charge. These programs range from workshops for elementary schoolchildren to master classes for UC scholars.
For the community at large we offer dozens of free events, on campus and off, which bring artists together with arts enthusiasts, in lectures, demonstrations, conferences, open-call casting, and community master classes.
Across the campus study and engagement with visiting artists is a regular feature of academic life for faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate students. Our programs include master classes and lectures by the world's greatest performing artists; symposia, conferences and demonstrations, created in partnership with UC Berkeley faculty; and concurrent programming with numerous units across campus.
In schools and out, our K-12 Educational Opportunities expose schoolchildren to the top-caliber artists featured in our season. At each SchoolTime performance, two thousand schoolchildren, teachers and chaperones file into the Hall and anxiously await for the curtain to rise on what for many is their first live performance. The fieldtrip to Zellerbach Hall is the culmination of our three-part enrichment program, Cal Performances in the Classroom, which includes professional development workshops for teachers, study guides, and in-school classes with artists, all aligned with curriculum standards.
Cal Performances is dedicated to offering these programs to the public for little or no cost, but doing so means that we rely on the generosity of individuals like you to help us cover the cost of running these important programs.
